The emergency services call centre is the police station in Tórshavn. The call centre is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. One can call the emergency services when an accident or incident has occurred that requires the immediate emergency response of an ambulance, fire fighters, or the police. One may also call the emergency services if one is witnessing criminal damage or robbery at the time one calls.
One should not call the emergency services call centre in the event of e.g. a minor accident that does not involve personal injury or criminal damage that is discovered after the fact. In such situations, one should call the local police station during normal business hours.
