Borgarstjórin legði krans

85 ár eru liðin síðan bretsku hersetingina, og at Merkið varð viðurkent sum føroyskt flagg. Í hesum sambandi varð skipað fyri minningarløtu á flaggdegnum fríggjadagin til minnis um tey, ið lótu lív.
Umboð fyri bretsku sendistovuna í Keypmannahavn og veteranar frá The Cameronians, sum var bretski herflokkurin, ið gjørdi tænastu í Føroyum undir seinna heimsbardaga, vóru til løtuna.

Elsa Berg, borgarstjóri, legði krans við gravirnar hjá bretskum hermonnum í kirkjugarðinum við Velbastaðvegin.

Til løtuna bar borgarstjórin eina heilsan.
- Today, we are gathered here to remember and honour the British soldiers, who lost their lives while stationed in the Faroe Islands during the Second World War.
Soldiers, far from home, in a time filled with uncertainty, came to our islands to serve —and for some, this is where their journey ended.
As Mayor of Tórshavn, I want to express our deep gratitude for their service and for keeping us safe.
We remember the bravery that crossed borders and the respect we hold for those, who stood up for peace The soldiers we remember today helped protect not just our land, but the values we still hold dear: freedom, dignity, and unity.
May they rest in peace, and may their memory continue to bring our communities together in friendship and reflection.
